The place

The Cranberry Mountain Nature Center Group Picnic Shelter, located at the junction of Route 150 and Route 39/55, 16 miles from Marlinton and 22 miles from Richwood, is a perfect site to plan a family gathering. The picnic shelter is located on the grounds of the Cranberry Mountain Nature Center which is fun for visitors of all ages and backgrounds. The nature center includes an exhibit hall, auditorium, events and programs. The center also features a native plant garden, a nature trail, and many activities for children. Keep reading

The picnic shelter can accommodate 50 people, has electricity, and an accessible pathway from the parking area to the shelter. A charcoal grill, picnic tables, and trash receptacle are all provided. Recreation Nature trails, educational displays, and the nearby Cranberry Glades botanical area are within close proximity to the picnic shelter. Hiking trails and scenic drive opportunities are available on the Highland Scenic Highway. Facilities There are picnic tables, electric receptacles, pedestal grill, and trash receptacles onsite. Flush toilets are available when the Cranberry Mountain Nature Center is open. Vault toilets at the Cranberry Glades parking area are available when the nature center is closed. Natural Features The picnic shelter is located on the grounds of the Cranberry Mountain Nature Center. Nature trails and the Highland Scenic Highway are nearby. Scenic views of a northern hardwood Forest is available. Nearby Attractions The Cranberry Glades botanical area, Highland Scenic Highway, and Falls of Hills Creek are all a short drive from the picnic shelter.
