Black Rock Campground is located approximately 20 miles from Idaho City, on the North Fork Boise River, at an elevation of 4,300 feet. Visitors enjoy fishing, swimming and exploring local trails. Keep reading
Recreation
The North Fork Boise River offers rainbow trout fishing in a beautiful natural setting. Many swimming holes can be found within a short distance of the campground. Numerous trail opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding and dirt biking can be found in the vicinity.
Facilities
The campground contains 11 single campsites, each equipped with a picnic table, campfire ring, and lantern hook. Vault toilets, and drinking water are provided within the campground. Roads and parking spurs are dirt. Garbage Collection is not provided.
Natural Features
The campground sits on the banks of the North Fork Boise River, where Ponderosa Pines tower over the area. Most campsites have partial shade, but little privacy from other campers. What the agency tells you
Don't Move Firewood: Help prevent the spread of tree-killing pests in our national forests by obtaining firewood near your destination and burning it on-site. For more information visit dontmovefirewood.org.
Water from hand pump is tested monthly for contaminants and will be abruptly shut off if not currently potable. Please plan accordingly with your own water supply in case of a shut off during your stay.

Campfires are allowed in fire rings ONLY, unless fire restrictions are in place. Contact Idaho City Ranger District for updates regarding fire restrictions.
No trash service: Pack-in-Pack-out
Reservations cancelled last minute due to weather or smoke conditions will not be refunded unless campground is closed to the public.
Sites 1, 2, 7, 8, 9, and 11 have direct access to creek.
Closest cell service is in Idaho City.

What you actually pay
Derived by CAMPANAC: the agency’s published rate for this season, $20 a night, plus one $8 recreation.gov reservation fee for the booking. A weekend here means Friday and Saturday night, booked once. Optional charges (an extra vehicle, a second tent, a dump-station fee) are listed separately and aren’t in this total.
Who keeps the booking fee
The agency’s own policy text says the reservation fee and the cancellation processing fee are “retained by the reservation service contractor”, and that a campground concessionaire will decline to refund them because “they did not receive these fees”. Recreation.gov is run under contract by Booz Allen Hamilton. What share of your booking fee the contractor keeps isn’t published in any federal dataset we can read, so we print no number for it. Bad Bear CampgroundBoise National Forest · 9.5 miFrom Idaho City, travel north on State Highway 21 for about two miles, to the Granite Creek/Rabbit Creek Road No. 327. Turn right and travel east for 18 miles on Road No. 327, to the campground. Be advised- FS road 327 is a dirt road that is only graded a couple of times a year. It can get very rough with washboarding and potholes.
