Prince William Forest Park is a 15,000-acre forested oasis, located 35 miles south of Washington, DC. 21 miles of bicycle trails and 37 miles of hiking trails crisscross Quantico Creek and its tributaries. Construction in Camp Orenda, also known as Camp 3, was completed in 1938. It was the first camp built in the park with larger cabins to accommodate mothers and small children attending camp. Today, Camp Orenda is divided into individual cabin rentals (A and B Units) and this group cabin camp rental which includes C Unit and access to the dining hall, main craft lodge and infirmary buildings. There is a small field area available for recreational sports. Hiking and biking trails are a short walk from the camp.

Facilities

Camp Orenda group campground is located in the C Unit . A Unit and B Unit are rented out separately for individuals, not groups. Please be aware that all cabin campers are obligated to pay the park entrance fee or possess a valid National Park pass. C Unit has six cabins that sleep 10 in each. Additional sleeping areas include the infirmary and building 70, for an additional 18 sleeping spots. In each cabin there are lights, electrical outlets, bunks and mattresses. Sleeping cabins do not have heat or air conditioning. Campers should bring all gear including bedding, pillows, and towels. Restrooms: There is one central restroom in the C Unit. There are also restrooms located in the dining hall, craft lodge and infirmary. Campers are responsible for cleaning and sanitizing floors, shower stalls, sinks, and toilets. Plungers and toilet brushes are provided. Campers should bring hand soap, detergents, and other necessary toiletries. Toilet paper is provided. Kitchen and Dining Hall: The dining hall seats up to 80 people and contains a commercial kitchen. The park does not provide food to campers. The dining hall provides wooden tables and benches. The kitchen is equipped with the following: 10 burner gas stove 3 ovens Large griddle Microwave Walk-in refrigerator Freezer Large sinks Food warming station with 4 trays Storage space Plenty of counter space Groups may do their own cooking or utilize a caterer. Groups may use the fireplaces inside the dining hall. Campers are responsible for cleaning and sanitizing the dining hall after use. Campers should bring utensils, pots, pans, baking sheets, cutlery, and other kitchen tools. Sleeping is not permitted in the dining hall, per fire code.

Natural Features

Camp Orenda Camp is located within a nearly 15,000-acre forest. There is a small field area available for recreational sports. Access to park trails is only a short walk from the camp.

Camp Orenda is located 35 miles south of Washington D.C. and a few miles from the National Museum of the Marine Corps.

Who keeps the booking fee

The agency’s own policy text says the reservation fee and the cancellation processing fee are “retained by the reservation service contractor”, and that a campground concessionaire will decline to refund them because “they did not receive these fees”. Recreation.gov is run under contract by Booz Allen Hamilton. What share of your booking fee the contractor keeps isn’t published in any federal dataset we can read, so we print no number for it.
