The place

Comstock Campground is in the Rock Creek Drainage 18 miles southwest of Monte Vista. The campground facilities include 6 sites with tables and fire rings, and a vault type toilet. All sites are dead end spurs and vary from 35 to 40 feet in length. Maneuvering space for large trailers is somewhat limited so walking the campground to look at sites is recommended if you have a larger trailer. All sites are first come, first served and cannot be reserved. No trash service or receptacles. Please pack out all garbage. Keep reading

Hiking trails include: Alamosa River to Rock Creek Trail 703, North Fork Rock Creek Trail 704 and South Fork Rock Creek Trail 702. Motorcycles are allowed on Trails 702 and 703. ATVs less than 50 inches wide are allowed on Trail 702 and it connects over to Blowout Pass. Big game hunting in the area during hunting season. Seasons of Use: Open Year-Round but may be inaccessible due to snow levels or spring road closures. Operational Hours: Check in time is after 2:00 pm. Check out time is before 11:00 am. Restrictions: No trash service or receptacles. Please pack out all garbage. No Horses in the Campground Must have Colorado Fishing License to fish in Rock Creek 14-day camping limit. Fires in designated fire rings only. This can be bear country. Remain "Bear Aware" and store food properly while camping. Passes and Permits: Interagency Senior/Access Recreation Passes provide a 50% discount to single campsites ONLY. *The discount applies only to the fee for the campsite physically occupied by the pass holder, not to any additional fee or campsite(s) occupied by members of the pass holder's party. Visit the USGS store for passes. Interagency Recreation Passes are Honored for Day Use.
