Hickory Landing is a picturesque, 10-site campground among cypress stands along the bank of Owl Creek and provides easy access to the Apalachicola River. From Sumatra, take SR 65 south for 1.6 miles. Turn right (west) on Forest Road 101 and go 1.5 miles. Turn Left (south) on Forest Road 101B and go one mile to campground entrance. Keep reading
Recreation
Boating For canoe enthusiasts, the trip from Cotton Landing , on Kennedy Creek, to Hickory Landing on Owl Creek via the Apalachicola River is a favorite full-day paddle. Hickory Landing , on Owl Creek, is another excellent put-in for the two-mile trip to the Apalachicola River. Owl Creek is deep and wide, lined by the beautiful river swamp habitat of the Apalachicola floodplain. Hiking Hikers will enjoy access to the Wright Lake Trail , a 4.6-mile loop. The birding here is excellent and nearby pitcher plant bogs bloom in March and April. Hunting Site is open to ALL campers year round. During hunting season, be aware of the hunting environment.

Who keeps the booking fee
The agency’s own policy text says the reservation fee and the cancellation processing fee are “retained by the reservation service contractor”, and that a campground concessionaire will decline to refund them because “they did not receive these fees”. Recreation.gov is run under contract by Booz Allen Hamilton. What share of your booking fee the contractor keeps isn’t published in any federal dataset we can read, so we print no number for it.
