The place

Temple Bar Campground is located along the eastern portion of Lake Mead in Arizona. It’s open year-round and features paved sites that can accommodate tents or RVs, along with tables, fire pits and/or grills. Restrooms and water spigots are located throughout the campsites. Temperatures usually surpass 100F (37C) degrees June-August. In May and September, daytime highs are around 90F (32C). October-April, temperatures are much cooler. Visitors enjoy coming here for the peace, solitude and pristine night skies. Recreation Enjoy the Temple Bar area by land or water. Hike through the desert along the Temple View Trail to observe the crystal blue waters of Lake Mead and the natural temple that changes colors throughout the day. Launch your own boat or rent one from the marina. You can also dine at the seasonal cafe, or grab a variety of snacks, drinks and charcoal from the store. Picnic tables and grills are located near the store. Although there are no beaches at Temple Bar, it's a great place to rent a boat and find your own secluded beach or cove where you can spend the day fishing, soaking in the sun and wading along the shore. Facilities Each campsite provides space for up to eight people with one camping unit, i.e., motor home or camp trailer. A maximum of two motorized vehicles, four motorcycles or combination thereof if towed or carried on or by a camper may occupy a site. Paved roads lead to each site, and the sites are asphalt. There are multiple water spigots and restrooms spread out throughout the campground. The restrooms have sinks and toilets. There are no showers. Accessible sites are available. An RV dump station and water refill station are located near the entrance on the left. Natural Features There is a mix of palm trees, oleanders, mature cottonwood trees and native vegetation that help provide shade and privacy between sites. Wildlife in the area includes many species of birds and lizards along with antelope squirrels and the occasional coyote. Temple Bar is remote, making it an ideal location to view the night skies. The Las Vegas Valley; Kingman, Arizona; and Route 66 are about 90 minutes away. In these areas, you can find museums, restaurants, stores and a variety of entertainment options. Recreation.gov default: most campsites can be booked six months prior to arrival date. Most campgrounds go on sale at 7am PT / 8am MT / 10am ET, but not always; check the facility Seasons and Fees tab. Some locations also offer shorter supplemental booking windows.

Fees

There is a park entrance fee. The daily entrance (1-7 days) fee is$25 per vehicle. All Interagency and Lake Mead Passes are valid for entry for one vehicle. Full fee schedule can be found on the park website www.nps.gov/lake . Passes can be purchased in person at entrance stations, or digitally by searching Lake Mead National Recreation Area on the main rec.gov page. First come, first served sites are available. Credit cards are the only accepted method of payment. We do not accept cash. Please keep your reservation confirmation with you at the site at all times. You may be asked to show the reservation to the camp host.
