Firehole Canyon Campground is located on the far northeastern shore of Flaming Gorge Reservoir within the Flaming Gorge Recreation Area on the Ashley National Forest. Rock Springs, Wyoming, is just 29 miles away. Boating, fishing and water skiing are popular activities. Keep reading
Recreation
Fishing, boating, canoeing, water skiing and swimming are popular activities on the lake. Campers are offered the convenience of an adjacent boat ramp and a beach area.
Facilities
The campground contains several family campsites. Each campsite has a cabana, picnic table and campfire ring. Flush toilets, showers, drinking water and trash collection are provided. Roads and parking spurs are paved. A dump station is located on-site.
Natural Features
The campground lies in a high desert environment at an elevation of 6,300 feet. Russian olive trees and sagebrush are scattered throughout the site. Shade is minimal. The site affords scenic views of the reservoir and surrounding bluffs and red rock formations.
Nearby Attractions
Flaming Gorge Dam offers guided tours of the working hydroelectric plant and the dam, and the adjacent visitor center contains area history exhibits.

CHECK IN: Begins at 2 PM. CHECK OUT: By 11 AM.
The single site fee covers the cost of 1 vehicle. Each single site's maximum capacity is 2 vehicles. There will be an extra vehicle fee for the second vehicle collected on site. 2 vehicles = 1 sleeping unit (trailer, pop-up, pickup camper, RV, etc) + 1 passenger vehicle or 2 passenger vehicles. There is not room for 2 sleeping units.
This campground has first come, first served sites. There is no guarantee a site of this type will be available.

What you actually pay
Derived by CAMPANAC: the agency’s published rates for this season, $33–$64 a night, plus one $8 recreation.gov reservation fee for the booking. A weekend here means Friday and Saturday night, booked once. Optional charges (an extra vehicle, a second tent, a dump-station fee) are listed separately and aren’t in this total.
Who keeps the booking fee
The agency’s own policy text says the reservation fee and the cancellation processing fee are “retained by the reservation service contractor”, and that a campground concessionaire will decline to refund them because “they did not receive these fees”. Recreation.gov is run under contract by Booz Allen Hamilton. What share of your booking fee the contractor keeps isn’t published in any federal dataset we can read, so we print no number for it.
