Hemlock Meadows Campground

Hemlock Meadows Campground sits at a beautiful 28-acre, man-made reservoir surrounded by stands of mixed conifers. This reservoir is 33 feet at its deepest point. It is stocked with trout which provides for good fishing from the banks or by boat. Relax and enjoy the views of the night sky at one of four campsites. Hike the loop around the lake, sit at the nearby picnic area, or put your boat in at the boat ramp. Keep reading

High Cascades glaciation, whitewater rapids, and explosive geologic events have shaped the distinctive landscape on the 983,239 acres of forest that provides spectacular scenery as well as an abundance of natural and cultural resources. Verdant stands of hemlock, fir and cedar transition to forests of mixed conifers and hardwoods at lower elevations, while alpine ecosystems dominate high peaks. The translation of the word "Umpqua," meaning "thundering waters," defines the area. The Forest's waterways and diversity create desirable habitat for many species of fish and wildlife, in addition to providing outstanding recreational opportunities to our local communities and visitors. Recreation.gov default: most campsites can be booked six months prior to arrival date. Most campgrounds go on sale at 7am PT / 8am MT / 10am ET, but not always; check the facility Seasons and Fees tab. Some locations also offer shorter supplemental booking windows.
